Our nurse practitioner, Karen Carson, left the practice on September 30, 2016. Karen was an amazing presence in this office and we enjoyed the privilege of working with her. She relentlessly provided high quality, compassionate medical care to many of our patients. However, consistently providing quality primary care is very difficult. She found that the expectations that accompany the broad scope of practice combined with the very many hours of work outside of regular office hours cut into her family time. Karen hasn’t gone far. She actually rejoined Lake Norman Hematology and Oncology where she had served as a registered nurse for many years until leaving to pursue her nurse practitioner degree. There, she will be able to limit her practice to oncology and (hopefully) be able to leave her work behind at the end of each day. We miss Karen and wish her all the best as she moves on in her professional life.

The book enables medical providers to master effective techniques for treating a variety of common skin and musculoskeletal conditions. Full-color illustrations help practitioners identify anatomic landmarks and demonstrate how to perform each technique. This edition covers many alternative techniques and several new procedures, including skin anesthesia, nerve blocks, ultrasound-guided injections, eyelid injections for cysts, nerve blocks for headaches, procedures for the hip, scapula joint injections, and temporomandibular joint procedures. The first edition of the text was published in October 2004.
